Facebook Inc. FB, -1.79% announced on Friday that it’s adding new tools to help any of its 1.35 billion users who express suicidal thoughts on their page. If a friend notifies Facebook’s administrators of a worrying status update or photograph, for example, the site will send a private status update to their timeline and gives this example: “Hi Gerald, A friend thinks you might be going through something difficult and asked us to look at your recent post.” Facebook will then give them an option to talk to someone or get tips and support.
